Estate & Tax Planning/Probate Law & Estate Administration
The attorneys in our Estate and Tax Planning Group are involved in every aspect of estate planning, probate, and, when disputes arise, litigation.
In planning, our goal is to help clients preserve their wealth for the benefit of their families. We draft wills designed to minimize the consequences of estate taxes. Our lawyers are skilled at developing comprehensive estate and business succession plans for our real estate clients, business owners and other professionals. We draft comprehensive wills and advance directives and make recommendations as to which other planning tools, if any, may be appropriate for each client’s particular circumstances. We have a myriad of trusts in our toolbox, and they include revocable or “living,” insurance, qualified personal residence, grantor retained annuity, charitable, generation-skipping, spousal lifetime access and asset protection. In retirement planning, a special emphasis is placed on IRA/qualified plan distribution planning.
In probate and administration, we offer complete services. We assist executors and trustees in the fulfillment of their duties, from the gathering and valuation of assets through the final distributions to beneficiaries. We assist in preparing estate and gift tax returns, and representing clients in IRS and state audits. If necessary, we serve as executor or trustee.
In litigation, we are primarily involved with will and trust challenges, contested accountings, business valuation disputes and partition of real estate. We also represent clients in every aspect of guardianship proceedings.
Most importantly, we appreciate the personal nature of our work, and make our client relationships a priority. Whether we draft a simple will, create a sophisticated estate plan or provide estate administration or tax planning services, our focus is on our clients’ personal and family needs and objectives.
