August 21, East Meadow, NY – Thomas McNamara’s practice encompasses a broad range of commercial litigation, including issues related to banking, creditors’ rights, contracts, real estate, employment, trade secrets, trust and estates, and insurance, as well as corporate, shareholder, partnership, and antitrust matters.  Recognized for his exceptional experience in banking and creditors’ rights litigation, Mr. McNamara has defended banks in forged check, Uniform Commercial Code, and lender liability cases.  He has represented banks and other lenders as plaintiffs in actions to enforce their rights under notes, guarantees, security agreements, and related loan documentation.  Equally at home in state and federal court, Mr. McNamara litigates many of his cases in New York City, as well as on Long Island.

The former chair of the Committee on Creditors’ Rights of the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, Mr. McNamara has also chaired, and lectured before, professional continuing education programs in the areas of bank litigation and creditors’ rights. At present, he is the Vice Chair of the Commercial Litigation Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association. His articles have appeared in several legal publications and he has served as an adjunct instructor at New York Law School and Molloy College.

He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago, where he majored in economics, and earned his law degree from New York University School of Law in 1980.
Mr. McNamara is admitted to practice in the state of New York; the U.S. District Court, Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York;   the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. McNamara has also achieved the highest professional rating by Martindale Hubbell, and Long Island Pulse Magazine honored him with a Legal Eagle award in 2012 and recently named him to the Top Ten List of Legal Eagles.
