Certilman Balin Takes Home “Legal Eagle” Awards

April 23, East Meadow, NY – Long Island Pulse Magazine held its “Legal Eagles” Awards Ceremony on April 16, 2013 at the Nassau County Bar Association, and four partners from Certilman Balin took home a total of Legal Eagle awards.

Donna-Marie Korth (Rockville Centre), awarded for Commercial Litigation, concentrates in all aspects of commercial and real estate litigation, appellate practice, commercial foreclosure, lending litigation and guardianship proceedings.She is also on the Commercial Division Panel of approved mediators for Nassau County and is a former Dean of the Nassau Academy of Law. Ms. Korth graduated, magna cum laude, from of St. John’s University with an undergraduate degree in accounting, and three years later she graduated, with honors, from that University’s School of Law.

Ms. Korth also was recognized for her philanthropy. She is a member of the St. Agnes Cathedral Mothers’ Club, volunteers for community service at a Long Island soup kitchen, and serves on the Black and White Ball Committee for Winthrop University Hospital’s Cancer Center for Kids.

Gregory Pond (Port Washington), awarded for Estate and Trust Planning, is involved in every aspect of estate planning, administration and litigation. He is involved in the construction and implementation of estate plans, including the preparation of complex wills and trusts and irrevocable life insurance trusts. He is experienced in estate litigation. Mr. Pond earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from St. John’s University and graduated from the St. John’s University School of Law in 1983.

Douglas Rowe (Woodmere) awarded for Employment Law, has a broad range of expertise in labor and employment law, including claims alleging discrimination based upon race, sex, religion, national origin, age and disability, as well as sexual harassment, wage and hour issues, labor arbitrations, and defense of employment-related claims under federal and state statutes. He also counsels on and litigates issues relating to restrictive covenants and trade secrets.In 1981, he earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland.
