Both currently serve on the Firm’s Executive Committee and bring a collective depth of experience that will guide the Firm’s operational direction and future vision.
Brendan J. DeRiggi, Co-Managing Partner
Brendan J. DeRiggi currently serves as Co-Chair of the Firm’s Banking and Commercial Lending Practice Group. He represents banks, credit unions, and private lenders in all aspects of commercial lending, including loan structuring, document negotiation, and closing of commercial transactions. His national practice spans CRE loans, C&I loans, multifamily and construction loans, leasehold financing, and asset-based credit facilities. He also represents lenders in commercial foreclosures, debt restructuring, workouts, modifications, enforcement actions, and general litigation matters. In addition, he advises buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and borrowers in commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, leasing, 1031 exchanges, and Industrial Development Agency matters.
Jaspreet S. Mayall, Co-Managing Partner
Jaspreet S. Mayall currently serves as Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy & Debtor/Creditor Rights Practice Group and Chair of the Telecommunication Practice Group. In his national telecommunications practice, he is a trusted advisor to master wholesalers, original equipment manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, assisting them in negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements. He also advises businesses in the hospitality industry and provides comprehensive representation to franchise operators in the quick-service restaurant sector. Mayall has extensive experience litigating a broad array of matters in state and federal courts and is a long-standing member of New York’s Character and Fitness Committee. He also remains active in industry working groups and regional nonprofit organizations.
Howard M. Stein Elevated to Chair
Following years of distinguished leadership as Managing Partner, Howard M. Stein has been elevated to Chair of the Firm. A recognized authority in commercial and residential real estate, Stein has guided transformative real estate transactions across Long Island and the region. In his new role, he will focus on advancing the Firm’s long-term vision, strategic planning, and key client relationships.
Together, DeRiggi, Mayall, and Stein form a unified leadership team dedicated to strengthening Certilman Balin’s core mission: delivering exceptional legal counsel, deepening client partnerships, and fostering a collaborative, forward-thinking firm culture.
