Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman LLP is pleased to announce that Alison A. LaPointe has been promoted to Partner in the Firm’s Land Use & Zoning Practice Group, based in the Hauppauge office.
LaPointe joined Certilman Balin in 2022 and has become a key member of the land use and zoning team, advising clients on municipal law, zoning and planning approvals, development strategy, and regulatory compliance. She has a strong background in public-sector planning and land use oversight, including eight years with the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson, where she advised municipal officials and boards and helped guide major development and redevelopment projects.
Her experience also includes drafting zoning code updates, navigating permitting processes, overseeing code enforcement matters, and managing complex land use and environmental reviews. Earlier in her career, LaPointe worked in private practice and served in land use roles with the Town of Brookhaven. She is also a former president and long-time leader of a statewide planning organization dedicated to advancing best practices in zoning and community development.
LaPointe earned her B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany and her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New York and is active in the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
