Environmental Law

The Environmental Law Practice Group handles a wide range of environmental matters before federal, state and local agencies. Our environmental lawyers have many years of experience in the environmental field with professional activities as agency counsel and environmental scientists. Our practice encompasses contaminated properties, brownfield development projects, air and water pollution, waste and chemical management, medical waste, bulk storage tanks, asbestos, pesticides, lead, toxic torts and other hazardous materials. Clients rely upon our extensive experience in litigating these issues, including Superfund and Navigation Law. We represent purchasers, sellers and lenders in commercial and real estate transactions involving contaminated properties, including negotiating appropriate contract terms and complex consent orders, managing and reviewing environmental assessments, and counseling on remediation of contaminated sites.

In brownfield development projects, we assist private and public sector clients. We negotiate technical and environmental issues addressing a broad range of complex concerns in the redevelopment of contaminated property. Our attorneys analyze insurance coverage under current policies and provide advice on new environmental insurance products, as well as litigate claims for defense and indemnity coverage under environmental property. Clients seek our representation for a wide array of environmental matters including water pollution, coastal and wetland issues, discharge issues, oil spills, coastal management and endangered species matters. We advise them regarding the registration and handling of pesticides and assist them in coordinating all aspects of operations and management programs of asbestos, lead and other hazardous substances.

In addition, we advise clients who must comply with regulations regarding bulk storage tanks, and we provide defense counsel in toxic tort and product liability suits.
