Elder Law

The attorneys in our Elder Law Practice Group assist clients in a myriad of matters including Medicaid, special needs planning and guardianships. Using a holistic approach, we counsel clients on asset protection for their long-term health care needs for themselves and for those entrusted in their care. Our estate knowledge and tax expertise help clients find solutions to stressful, and sometimes crisis, situations.

In regard to Medicaid, whether it be for homecare or institutional assistance, we tailor our planning to the individual needs of our clients. We assist our clients in the complex task of applying for Medicaid by assembling the required documentation necessary to meet eligibility requirements.

We advise clients on supplemental needs trusts and special needs trusts which are tools that preserve and protect an individual’s assets which can be used to supplement any government benefits an individual may be receiving.

We also represent clients applying for guardianship of alleged incapacitated persons, as well as family members, to ensure the protection of their rights. This is especially helpful for individuals who have no advance directives in place and need protection of funds.

Utmost in our planning is getting to know each family and their members. We pride ourselves on taking the time to listen to an individual’s circumstance, to formulate the most compassionate plan and to implement the necessary legal work to provide peace of mind.
