Carisa McKillop is an Associate in our Trusts and Estates and Elder Law Practice Groups. She brings a comprehensive academic background and hands-on experience in Medicaid planning, estate planning, and legal research.

Before joining Certilman Balin, Ms. McKillop worked as a Summer Associate and Law Clerk at a few other Long Island law firms, where she gained valuable experience preparing Medicaid applications, researching financial records, and assisting clients with transfers of real property and assets. She also drafted essential estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance healthcare directives.

Ms. McKillop graduated from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in May 2024 where she served as the Head Articles Editor for The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Law Journal. During law school, she was actively involved in student organizations such as serving as Treasurer of the Trusts & Estates Law Society, and President of the Real Estate Law Society. Ms. McKillop also competed in the Elaine Jackson Stack Moot Court Competition where she won first place along with receiving awards for Best Brief and Best Oralist.

Ms. McKillop earned her B.A. in Economics from Binghamton University, where she was engaged in numerous leadership roles. She is admitted to practice in the New York, New Jersey, Florida and Connecticut.
